The Terrible Challenge: Wild Card Week

photo: vegas.com

We at The Terrible Blog think there is nothing more foolish than picking games unless you do it against the spread. Seriously, it's like those people who can flip their eyelids inside out and show you just the pink insides. It freaked me out the first time, but is it actually accomplishing anything?

Right through the Super Bowl, we want our readers to pick each game in our comments section for all the world to see. At the bottom of this post is the list of spreads we will use for the first week(for the record, Sportsbook.com's Monday lines).

There will be 11 playoff games in all (4, 4, 2, 1) and we will also pick the length of the National Anthem of the Super Bowl to break any ties. Most number of correct picks wins. Please include your name so we can keep standings week to week.

What's the prize, you might ask? On the Tuesday after the Super Bowl, the winner will be featured in a post (with photo!) and they can e-mail me a rant on anything they may to talk about -- make fun of friends, a Dear John letter, declare yourself eligible for the '09 Draft -- you name it, I'll post it. If they provide me with an address, I will also send them something random and useless from my stash of random and useless sports items.

Sound good? Of course it does. Below are the spreads ... just pick the four teams you think will cover and type them in the comments section. Best of luck!

(If you're new to this, you might be asking yourself, "Aren't the home teams usually the favorites? Especially when they won their division?". Yeah, it's weird.)

  • Atlanta (-2) at Arizona
  • Indianapolis (-1) at San Diego
  • Baltimore (-3) at Miami
  • Philadelphia (-3) at Minnesota

As much as I hate to agree with Dunn on anything other than the genius of Kratt's lyrics...Atlanta, San Diego, Baltimore and Minnesota.

Minnesota, seriously? +3? And Atlanta is doing it with mirrors. They literally have mirrors in the huddle.

This calls for a picks recap/trash talking post on Friday.

when the masses jumps on a bandwagon (like Philly's) I go the other way. A turnover a 60 yard TD run by AP and that's that. I think you are putting too much stock into our Madden 09 contest on Sunday.

oh and Arizona is AWFULLLLLLLLLL, any other team I take over Atlanta, but not them.

Atlanta…. ( I realllly want the Cards to win word to Neil Lomax but……)

Indy …… (L.T is more acronym then performance, and expect a barrage of passes and commercials from Mr. 6’5 225 Laser Rocket arm)

Baltimore…. ( The feel good story of 08 dies in 09, sorry Chad)

Philadelphia (Philly and their scumbag fans will get another week to celebrate/ bitch and complain)

Lol @ Sonny and the Mirrors

Jim:

So harsh on the Cards…almost blasphemy upon the red soldiers led by Gods QB lol

I just wanted to point this out (not trying to sound like a smart ass) but I noticed the question posed at the top of the page "Who would you rather the Steelers play," has the Ravens as an option. That cannot happen in the next round. If the Ravens win, they are the lowest seed and the Titans would automatically be matched up against them #1 vs. #6 seed.

Thanks Aaron. I think Dave realized that and was just asking who was the easiest out this weekend.

By the way, I would least like to see the Ravens right now. Even less than the Colts.

Aaron, thanks for noticing that.. as Sonny said, and I think we spoke about at the bar last Sunday, was more of "who is the easiest out besides the Titans".

I am excited for the Playoffs tho, this is going to be a great month.

Good job Sonny.. maybe you should come to Vegas with us in June.

We were picking the losers of the games, right? Wow, I suck...
